I really resisted starting a blog. I didn't think I'd have enough share. I had NO IDEA of the friends I'd make in the blogging world! Yesterday one of my new friends, Julie gave me an award on her blog,
A Vintage Chic.
So, in keeping with this award, here are 5 things you might not know about me:
1) I was a summer exchange student to northern Norway right after high school. Find North Cape on the map, and go down to the dip. I lived in Karasjok for 2 months. I'm still VERY close with my Norwegian family.
2) Before stamping I was a needleworker for 25 years. I opened/closed a needlework store here in Colorado Springs from Jan 2003 to Nov 2005. I'm not stitching now, but will get back to it sooner or later.
3) I love to travel. I've been to quite a few places in this world: China, Panama Canal, a great deal of western Europe including northern Norway (grin), and 42/50 states (missing ND, IN, OH, SC, VT, NH, WV, and ME).
4) I'm a Colorado Native.
5) I love to read romantic mysteries, particularly the JD Robb's (pen name for Nora Roberts) "in Death" series! Love Eve and Rourke!!!

And so, on to the KLSNS entry for today!I have another sweet Tilda today. I can't believe Thanksgiving is now less than two weeks away! I was in the mall yesterday and everybody is ready for Christmas. I can deal with the decorations but the carols were a bit much. I guess retailers need every ounce of help this year!
This is Peachy Tilda. She's been harvesting her "peaches" for her Thanksgiving pie. Only, I colored them as apples because, I prefer apple pie over peach pie. (wink) She's a little bit of paper piecing, a little bit of layering, and a little Copic coloring. Her dress and boots are paper pieced (stamped on colored paper and cut out). The layered section is her arm and basket over the paper dress. I left a bit of a tab on the upper arm and cut a slit under the sleeve. There's a pop-dot under her basket. So she has a true 3D arm. Finally, I used an old SCS sketch (SC246) for the layout.

This was a card kit. Tilda was colored with COPICS. I used this week's SCS sketch challenge (SC272). I sponged Real Red in the center of the circle with the Nestie still on the paper.
The kit included everything except the sentiment and the log image. I got that out of another card kit.
I received these mini Magnolia images from a friend (Thanks, Angela). They aren't available here in the US. She was the prefect size to sit in the 3" frame I cut with my Slice. The little "cure" and "hope" tags were punched from a label maker (on plastic label ribbon) and punched out with the new Stampin Up mini label punch.
I used last weeks SCS Sketch Challenge (SC266). I only colored Tilda's face and legs. The dress was paper-pieced. The background was airbrushed using Technique Junkies method called Whisped Frames. I've done something similar with Nesties but I didn't use Nesties for this card. I need a little bit more practice with the airbrush to get a smooth look. 
I used both paper and my heart Nesties for the heart. This time I have managed to use the MOJO MONDAY sketch (MOJO123). However, instead of a square or circle - I used a heart shape.
The kit included 2 double-sided papers - here I used one paper (both sides) and a brown out of my own stash. I also used my Slice for the pink swirl on the bottom (you can kind of see it under the pink pearls). And a new branch punch from EK Success.
This is a old family favorite at Christmas time - ENGLISH TOFFEE. All the recipes I do for Deb's RoMC will be 4x6. I can get 6 bases out of one 12x12 sheet of DP, AND that size fits in the box. In fact, it's a bit small for the inside of the box. There's not much to this. I did color the lamp posts with Copics. The glass in the light was covered with Crystal Effects. In the end it's a pretty simple card but they don't all have to be ready for the Louvre, right? 
These altered tins are about 5x7x4. I cut two strips of patterned paper from a 12x12. It overlaps a bit on the sides but nobody is looking at the sides! (wink). I also cut two lacy border swith my Nestablities die. The red super tape is a must for this...other wise the edges of the paper will pop-up.
The main image panel was also cut from Nesties. The white was then airbrushed with my Copic marker/airbrush system. Then stamped with a script stamp. Chef Tilda and the knife/fork were colored with Copics. I put a ribbon band around the lid of the tin.
And she used my favorite Martha branch punch...GRIN!
First I printed the recipe on Neenah Cream. I use MS Publisher to format all my recipes. I selected the Basic Grey ESKIMO KISSES paper because the little motif reminded me of a bunch of spritz cookies all on a cookie sheet. Chef Tilda was stamped in Archival Ink and heat set. I then used my aqua painter and Distress Ink to watercolor her. I sprayed a little Glimmer Mist: Candy Apple Red on the poinsettia flowers just to give them some "bling". And after I put the branches down and Tilda on top, I had to giggle at the expression on her face. Her little eyebrows are up in her bangs - like it's kinda pokey sitting on those branches! (grin)
Since the original recipe was hand-written by my mother, I didn't want to loose that. I'm fortunate to still have her around to help me make spritz, but I know that won't always be the case. So I preserved this little bit of history by putting an old-fashion library card pocket on the back of the recipe and slip the original inside!!

I did this card as a challenge piece for the Wish RAK November sketch. I used 2 images (Tilda and the Cherry Colander) that I received as Wish RAK's (random acts of kindness). Colored with COPICS and glitter pen (what would I do without my glitter pen?) Inside I made a little slot for a gift card.

This is a card kit from a swap (yes, I do a lot of swapping)! Isn't she cute?!? Every thing displayed came in the kit: papers, images, ribbon, flower/crystal brad. All I had to do was color Tilda with my Copics. I used the MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS November sketch for this card, but I wish now that I had flipped it so the red band was at the bottom. Tilda seems to be floating a bit, which I didn't really notice until I started to post the picture. ;)
This little bat girl is SOOO cute!! I'm using the Beate's weekend challenge (WSC104) with a twist. Instead of using strips of paper, I cut windows in the main paper. The bats are velvet stickers.
This one I did just for the Copic Creation bi-weekly challenge. This challenge was COPIC black. The cauldron and shoes were both done with C1-C7 grays. The main background piece (behind the moon) was done by just spraying Glimmer Mist on a piece of white card cardstock
A clean and simple card (CAS). The image reminds me of Tim Burton's characters in A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I lightly colored her with Copics.
As I was looking through all the pictures from homecoming weekend it was a SEA OF RED. When it came time to make Missy's Halloween card this year, I decided she needed a change of pace. Since she's also a big fan of the musical WICKED, I decided she needed a green witch.
This was a card kit I received in a recent Magnolia swap. It came with two witch images. I originally colored both images to see which one I liked better but couldn't decide. So, I decided on a flip-flop card. If I had been thinking ahead, I would have done both images in the same clothes and same hair color, but what the heck! The only thing that didn't come in the kit was the "moon" sentiment and the spider web border.
This little Tilda is from the new Magnolia collection - YUMMY FOR YOUR TUMMY. She's colored with Copics to match Basic Grey's INDIAN SUMMER paper and isn't that yummy all by itself! I thought she needed some extra color in her cheeks after dropping the egg (how embarrassing!). Tilda was cut out and layered on a Swiss Dot oval. In fact, I used my Cuttlebug a lot on this card. The corner swirls, the Nestabilities ovals, and the Cuttlebug Swiss dot embossing folder. I some times think that my "Bug" is my best tool. I embossed first and then rubbed SU! Summer Sun lightly over the raised bumps to color. Then I cut the oval. Final touches include Glossy Accents on her shoes to make them look like patent leather Mary Janes.
