My friend, Heather, convinced me to submit these cards to Paper Crafts STAMPING ROYALTY contest. I had my doubts, but did it. I love Paper Crafts magazine but they really aren't my style of cards. As I expected none of these made the cut (grin).
LOVE - this was a Distress Ink background - smoosh 'n' spray. The stamp is a Christmas stamp but other than a bit of holly on the spray and the sentiment it's great stamp. The sentiment was Stampin Up! I used a small sponge to highlight areas of the image

HELLO/THINKING OF YOU - the image was colored with Copics and cut out. The rest is just that great Basic Grey ORIGINS paper.

THANK YOU - Stamped the bamboo image on plain card stock. Then layered the HAIKU paper. The doll image was colored with Copics.

Awesome cards, Deb! I agree that the only reason these weren't chosen must be because they didn't fit the 'mold' that PC was trying for because they are each impressive creations. The background technique of your first card is amazing -- I need to give it a try!!
ReplyDeleteI think your cards are gorgeous! Remember.. it's always subjective to the editor's tastes. I wonder why they pick half the cards they do in those publications. Always make what you are proud of and what you like, not what you think might get published:-)
ReplyDeleteI love them all. I particularly love the first one ~ all those yummy distress colors together, that background is amazing!! I too love that particular santa image!! Great job, Paper Crafts doesn't know what they are missing out on!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh poo poo to Paper Crafts because I LOVE the Arrigato one. I love your work, Deb.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful cards; love all of your different styles!
